Welcome to SRTM Safe Gaming, a supervised online gaming and enrichment program operated by Social Responsibility Through Me (SRTM). By enrolling a child or allowing participation in SRTM Safe Gaming, parents/guardians agree to the following Terms & Policies.

1. Program Overview

SRTM Safe Gaming is a structured, supervised online program for children ages 5–17. The program provides access to age-appropriate gaming and social interaction in a monitored environment led by trained staff.

SRTM Safe Gaming is not an open gaming platform and is not a therapeutic or clinical service.

2. Eligibility & Enrollment

  • Participants must be between the ages of 5 and 17 at the time of enrollment.
  • Enrollment must be completed by a parent or legal guardian.
  • Accurate and complete registration information is required.
  • SRTM reserves the right to deny or terminate enrollment if program policies are violated.

3. Supervision & Safety

  • All sessions are actively supervised by background-checked staff.
  • Children are grouped by age for safety and appropriateness.
  • Open, unmoderated interaction with strangers is not permitted.
  • Staff may intervene, redirect, or remove a child from a session if behavior compromises safety or program integrity.

4. Code of Conduct (Participant Expectations)

Participants are expected to:

  • Treat others with respect
  • Follow staff instructions
  • Use appropriate language and behavior
  • Practice sportsmanship and cooperation
  • Respect boundaries and program rules

The following behaviors are not permitted:

  • Bullying, harassment, or threats
  • Hate speech or discriminatory language
  • Intentional disruption of sessions
  • Inappropriate content, gestures, or communication
  • Attempts to contact other participants outside the program

Violations may result in temporary suspension or permanent removal without refund.

5. Parent/Guardian Responsibilities

Parents/guardians agree to:

  • Provide a safe, quiet space for participation
  • Ensure appropriate device and internet access
  • Review program expectations with their child
  • Communicate concerns promptly with SRTM staff
  • Understand that SRTM Safe Gaming supplements not replaces parental supervision

 

6. Social & Emotional Support Disclaimer

SRTM Safe Gaming incorporates social and emotional learning strategies such as emotional regulation, communication, and conflict resolution.

However:

  • The program is not therapy
  • Staff are not acting as clinicians or counselors
  • No diagnosis, treatment, or medical services are provided

If a child requires specialized behavioral or mental health support, families should seek professional services.

7. Technology & Access

  • Families are responsible for internet connectivity and device functionality.
  • SRTM is not responsible for disruptions caused by:
    • Internet outages
    • Device malfunction
    • Platform issues beyond our control
  • Missed sessions due to technical issues may not be refundable.

8. Payments, Cancellations & Refunds

  • Fees, billing cycles, and pricing are outlined during enrollment.
  • Payments are processed securely through a third-party payment processor.
  • Refunds and cancellations are subject to the Refund Policy posted on the website.
  • SRTM reserves the right to update pricing with advance notice.

9. Attendance & Session Policies

  • Late arrivals may be admitted at staff discretion.
  • Repeated absences without notice may result in removal from the program.
  • Sessions may be canceled or rescheduled due to staff availability, holidays, or emergencies.

10. Privacy & Data Protection (COPPA-Aligned)

SRTM respects family privacy and complies with applicable child data protection standards.

  • We collect only information necessary to operate the program.
  • Children’s personal information is not sold or shared with third parties.
  • Communications are monitored for safety.
  • Parents may request access to or deletion of their child’s data.

11. Media & Recording Policy

  • Sessions may be monitored or recorded for safety, training, or quality assurance.
  • Recordings are not publicly shared.
  • Parents will be notified if recordings are used for internal purposes.
  • Unauthorized recording by participants is prohibited.

12. Limitation of Liability

By enrolling, parents/guardians acknowledge and agree:

  • Participation is voluntary
  • SRTM is not responsible for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • SRTM is not liable for injuries, losses, or damages outside its reasonable control

To the fullest extent permitted by law, liability is limited to the amount paid for participation.

13. Modification of Terms

SRTM reserves the right to update these Terms & Policies at any time. Continued participation after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms & Policies are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey,  unless otherwise required by applicable law.

By enrolling in SRTM Safe Gaming, parents/guardians confirm that they have read, understood, and agree to these Terms & Policies.

SRTM Safe Gaming Refund & Cancellation Policy

At SRTM Safe Gaming, we are committed to providing a safe, high-quality, and enriching experience for every child. This policy outlines our refund terms, cancellation procedures, and financial practices to ensure fairness while maintaining program sustainability.

1. 24-Hour Full Refund Guarantee

Families are eligible for a full refund within 24 hours of initial registration and payment, provided the participant has not substantially participated in sessions during that time.

Refund requests must be submitted in writing within the 24-hour window.

After 24 hours, enrollment is considered active and subject to the terms below.

2. Monthly Enrollment Commitment

After the initial 24-hour period:

  • Enrollment is for the full monthly billing cycle.
  • Participants may access and participate in the platform for the remainder of that month.
  • All monthly payments are considered earned upon activation of the billing period.

Except in cases outlined under Section 4, all purchases are final after the 24-hour window.

3. Recurring Payments & Cancellation

SRTM Safe Gaming operates on a month-to-month recurring payment model.

  • Recurring subscriptions may be cancelled at any time.
  • Cancellation must occur before the next billing cycle to avoid additional charges.
  • No partial refunds will be issued for unused time within an active billing period.

Access continues through the end of the paid month.

4. Refunds for Safety Policy Violations or Grievances

Refunds may be considered on a case-by-case basis if a grievance is reported and verified involving:

  • Violations of our Safety Policy
  • Documented platform failure on SRTM's end
  • Verified misconduct not aligned with our Code of Conduct
  • Serious unresolved service disruptions

All grievances must be reported formally through our designated reporting process. SRTM reserves sole discretion in determining eligibility for refunds under these circumstances.

5. Suspension & Policy Violations

No refunds will be issued if a participant is suspended or removed due to: 

  • Bullying or harassment
  • Violations of the Code of Conduct
  • Attempting to bypass safety safeguards
  • Disruptive or unsafe behavior

Our first priority is maintaining a safe environment for all children.

6. Chargeback & Payment Protection Policy

Families agree to contact SRTM Safe Gaming directly to resolve any billing concerns before initiating a chargeback or payment dispute.

Improper or fraudulent chargebacks may result in: 

  • Immediate suspension of services
  • Collections review
  • Denial of future enrollment

7. Processing of Approved Refunds

  • Approved refunds will be processed within 7-14 business days.
  • Refunds will be issued to the original method of payment.
  • Processing times may vary depending on financial institutions.

8. Policy Updates

SRTM Safe Gaming reserves the right to update this Refund Policy at any time. Changes will apply to future enrollments and billing cycles.

SRTM Safe Gaming Safety & Protection Policy

At SRTM Safe Gaming, the safety, well-being, and emotional health of every child comes first. Our platform was created to provide a secure, supervised, and developmentally appropriate gaming environment for children and youth. This policy outlines how we protect participants, respond to concerns, and partner with families to ensure a positive experience.

1. Staff Supervision & Moderation Rules

All SRTM Safe Gaming sessions are actively supervised by trained staff.

  • Staff are present during all live gaming sessions and activities
  • Moderators monitor gameplay, behavior, and communication in real time
  • No session is left unattended
  • Staff intervene immediately if behavior violates our Code of Conduct
  • All staff receive training in youth development, conflict resolution, and digital safety.

Our goal is not just monitoring but guidance, coaching, and emotional support while children play.

2. No Open Chat With Strangers

SRTM Safe Gaming does not allow open or public chat with unknown users.

  • Children may only interact with approved participants enrolled in SRTM Safe Gaming
  • No private messaging with strangers is permitted
  • Chat features are restricted, moderated, or disabled depending on age group
  • Staff monitor communication for safety, respect, and appropriateness

Any attempt to bypass communication rules results in immediate review and possible removal.

3. Games Used and Why They're Safe

SRTM Safe Gaming uses age-appropriate, school-aligned, and moderation-friendly games.

We select games based on: 

  • Age suitability
  • Limited or controlled chat features
  • Cooperative and creative gameplay.
  • Ability to support teamwork, problem-solving, and social skills

Games are reviewed regularly and updated to ensure they continue to meet our safety standards. Violent, explicit, or unmoderated games are not permitted.

4. Bullying & Harassment Policy 

Bullying, harassment, discrimination, or intimidation of any kind is not tolerated.

This includes:

  • Verbal harassment 
  • Threatening language
  • Repeated exclusion or targeting
  • Inappropriate username or behavior

Immediate actions may include:

  • Verbal warning and coaching
  • Temporary removal from session
  • Parent notification 
  • Suspension or permanent removal from the program

Our approach prioritizes restorative practices, accountability, and emotional learning.

5. Reporting Process for Kids & Parents

We encourage children and families to speak up.

How to Report a Concern
  • Notify a moderator during a session
  • Email or submit a report through the SRTM Safe Gaming website
  • Parents may contact SRTM leadership directly

All reports are:

  • Taken seriously
  • Documented
  • Reviewed promptly
  • Followed by clear communication with families

No child will ever be punished for reporting a concern.

6. Code of Conduct (Kids) & Parent Agreement

Youth Code of Conduct

Participants agree to:

  • Be respectful to others
  • Follow staff instructions
  • Use appropriate language and behavior
  • Play fairly and safely
  • Ask for help when needed
Parent Agreement

Parents/guardians agree to: 

  • Review safety expectations with their child
  • Support appropriate online behavior
  • Communicate concerns promptly 
  • Respect program rules and staff decisions

Enrollment in SRTM Safe Gaming confirms agreement to these standards.

7. Background Check & Staff Screening Statement

All SRTM Safe Gaming staff and moderators are: 

  • Background checked
  • Screened according to youth-serving organization standards
  • Approved prior to interacting with children

We do not allow unscreened individuals to supervise or moderate sessions.

8. Incident Response & Escalation Process

If a child becomes unsafe, upset, overwhelmed, or distressed:

  • Step 1: Immediate staff intervention
  • Step 2: Emotional support and de-escalation
  • Step 3: Removal from activity if needed
  • Step 4: Parent/guardian notification
  • Step 5: Documentation and follow-up

Serious concerns are escalated to SRTM leadership and handled according to organizational safety protocols.

9. Children's Data Privacy & COPPA Compliance

SRTM Safe Gaming complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

We:

  • Collect only necessary information for participation
  • Do not sell or share children's data
  • Securely store personal information
  • Require parental consent for children under 13
  • Allow parents to review or request deletion of data

Privacy protections are built into our systems and policies.

Shaneka Boucher is a mother of one, youth advocate, and the Founder and President of Social Responsibility Through Me (SRTM) and SRTM Safe Gaming. With a background as a school administrator and former City Councilwoman, Shaneka has spent her career at the intersection of education, community leadership, and youth empowerment. Her work has consistently centered youth voice, accountability, and creating systems that support young people beyond traditional classroom settings.

SRTM Safe Gaming was created as a natural extension of the services SRTM already provides, meeting young people where they are and connecting them to what they love in safe, joyful, and guided ways. Rooted in Positive Youth Development (PYD) and Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Safe Gaming ensures that children can engage, express themselves, and build relationships while being supported by responsible adults who serve as mentors and guides.
